  Yangzhou fried rice - fragrant, but slightly on the saltier side
  Eel with bamboo and mushrooms - a bit on the sweet side, but delicious
  Shredded duck and Shanghai noodle - chewy noodles, with not much vegetables or duck slices
  Mapo tofu - delicious and actually numbing
  Green bean - way too salty
  
  Overall, portions were a bit small, and presentation was lacking, some of the plates were even chipped.
  Service was good and efficient. They did charge us a mysterious $10, so be sure to check your receipt.

  Dinner tonight was her at New Shanghai, we past this restaurant all the time when at Garden City as it sits directly across from the dreaded time zone.
  
  So why not have some dumplings, there were 9 of us and it was a tight squeeze in the booth. Ordering is via the phone with a qr link, and the paging system does not work.
  
  We got a selection of dumplings and a side of fried rice for the kids and I got an extra spicy soup.
  
  Dumplings were great everyone enjoyed them, kids couldn’t fault the rice and they are picky eaters. My soup was average, not much flavour and maybe too much noodles, couldn’t finish it.

  The food was pretty average and nothing like the Brisbane City location. The shepherd’s purse pork dumplings relied on the sauce for flavour as the filling was totally bland. The XLBs were not piping hot and the skins were a bit gritty. The duck noodles had the most flavour and the duck was tasty and fresh. There just wasn’t a lot of duck. The service was good and attentive and probably saved this from being a 1 star review.

  Food was delicious, however would not recommend the Kung Pow chicken. The chillies are too thick and the texture a bit chewy. Tasty if you took the chillies out. Really enjoyed everything else.

  The city location is better.
  
  Tried 2 of their recommended dishes. The beef noodle soup was too sweet. Tasted like sugar water.
  
  Their signature Shanghai Soup Dumplings was below average. The texture of the skin was off on the palette and there was a distinct lack of aromatic flavour from the meat inside that you'd usually find.
  
  Service was a little disingenuous. Came during off peak and the waitress didn't seem like she cared much.
  
  I'd give this place a miss to be honest. If you want to try it, go to the city location at least.
